Climate friendly gardens news. 🍃🍃🍃How to tackle your first gardenKit Cubitt reports on the progress made at the 'Novice' Climate Action Garden in Tayport. "Fiona and Douglas have nearly outgrown their original classification in this project as ‘novice’ gardeners, as their garden is gradually becoming an excellent example of some low-maintenance climate friendly methods. Having started with a standard lawn garden, they have experimented carefully (and successfully) by adding elements piece-by-piece, cutting flower beds into the turf, creating a small salad patch, and increasing their rain-catching capacity in response to the garden’s needs. They have incorporated subtle yet effective methods into the space without compromising on aesthetics or having to sink large amounts of time into working. Most climate-friendly approaches to gardening are passive and easy to maintain; an overgrown log pile as refuge for insects, a compost bin in an unused shady corner, or the selection of perennial wildflowers and bulbs. One-time effort, long-term benefit". Photo credit: Douglas ... See MoreSee Less
