The Harbour Café
The Harbour Café is 6 years old! It was opened in March 2011 and is run for the benefit of the community of Tayport by Tayport Community Enterprises - the trading arm of the Community Trust. It is on the Fife Coastal Path and the Kingdom Cycle Route, as well as being a stones throw from the harbour where dolphins are often spotted. It has been awarded with a Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor.
The Café is open 7 days a week: from 10:00am to 3:30pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, from 09:00am to 3:30pm on Tuesday and Friday and from 11:00am to 3:30pm on Sunday. We are pleased to offer free WiFi - just ask a member of staff for the password.
Can you spare anything from a couple of hours once a week upwards? Please come and have a chat!
We serve freshly made soup, lovely home baking to put aside any diet, and daily specials to tempt the taste-buds as well as a range of freshly made sandwiches, toasties and salads plus so much more! Where possible, we use local produce including from our very own Cafe Garden which our team at PLANT look after for us. Why not browse the menu online so you know what you would like to try when you pop in? Alternatively (if you're short of time) have a look at our takeaway menu.
We also regularly host pop up shops to support local craft and visual artists. They are always a great success and we love seeing what people can make whilst helping them to promote their work! If you or someone you know would like to spend time with us showing and selling your work, then please get in touch through our Facebook page. We would love to hear from you! We also offer artists the chance to display their work on our walls. For more information, check out our Artists page.
The Café exists to serve the people of Tayport, and the many visitors that come our way. Any financial surplus is put back into the work of the Trust to enhance services available for local people. More than making nice food and drink, and providing a great place for a chat, the Café offers a place for training and volunteering opportunities for a range of people. For some, just offering their time to the community is reward enough. For others, the chance to have a regular place of 'work' on a CV is a huge incentive. And for others again, there is the chance to develop self confidence and a work ethic that will mean that, whilst we may not be able to employ them, we can make them employable. In this day and age, that's a huge boost for people.
The Café also hosts a number of community and interest groups and is available for booking in the evenings. Give us a call to discuss your requirements.
